Last spring, the crowd-pleasing, Tony-winning musical Once welcomed a pair of new headliners: Arthur Darvill and Joanna Christie are delivering two of Broadway’s most genuine and heartfelt performances as a pair of would-be lovers who meet at a Dublin pub. Broadway.com’s resident sketch artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson offers up his own take on Darvill and Christie as Once’s nameless Guy and Girl, and even includes Guy’s guitar and his vacuum! (See the show and you’ll understand the role of the latter.) Check out Squigs’ fantastic portrait above, and read more about the man behind the art below.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
